Andreis and Taare at Portillo

Argentina
16th December 2001

With only 5 days to go the pressure is on, Andreis must cycle 250km per day to reach Ushuaia by Saturday 22nd.

Strong headwinds were a hindrance yesterday and we just made the 250km by dark, even though we woke up at 3 am.  Here are some statistics...... he has cycled an average of 180km per day for 134 days.  He has spent 1174 hours on the saddle.

His endurance and stamina must equal the worlds greatest athletes .. .but tri-athletes only muster up for one day, Tour De France is hard but is only raced for a short period. I can't think of too many that would equal him....ok then, maybe Forest Gump when he ran across America a few times but Dr. Botha has done Canada!  But seriously, being able to witness him in action has been mind-blowing.
