Journal Entry/Day 5
I got up at 7 o’clock. Had a rainy start at 7:30 a.m.
After only 3 km. security stopped me. I was unable to
cycle any further because of road construction. They
would not even let me walk the bicycle through “by order
of the state.”
We would not be able to move until 7 p.m.
We decided to go back to Coldfoot. We cleaned up the
motorhome and started on the road again at 7 p.m.
I believe in a good outcome no matter what the
circumstances. I have to cycle late tonight and make
up the rest of the time later.
Everybody is in good spirits but Brian is missing in
Fairbanks. Absent-minded professor is missing in
action. Nobody said that this trip would be easy.
Today was one of the most difficult rides that I have ever
had. I cycled 3 hours through wind, rain, muddy
terrain and visibility was very poor due to a heavy fog.
I stopped at the Arctic Circle at 10:00 o’clock at night.
That was 50 km. of heavy work.
