Journal Entry/Day 3
I slept in until 8:30 this morning,
the alarm did not go off and so I had a late start. I am
feeling very good. There is no rain but there is traffic,
dust and a lot of wind. Sometimes I am unable to see for
a while when a big truck passes me.
The scenery through the mountains is
fantastic. After 36 km. I had a good breakfast. Joof,
Brian and George had a turn on a spare bike and quickly
discovered that cycling on this terrain is no piece of
cake. I tackled the Atigun pass today and surprised
myself. I made the steep 4,752 feet without having to
stop. It was very windy and cold at the top. I stopped
and had lunch and a rest there. Brian had to go to
Coldfoot to fix the van. It is still leaking coolant. He
must take George to the airport at Fairbanks tomorrow.
I was satisfied with my 116 km. I finished the day with
200 sit-ups, 50 push-ups and a 3 to 5 km. walk. Fairbanks
is getting closer. I hope to be there Saturday night.
